Playful Cub with Watchful Mother: This yearling Brown Bear cub had no siblings, so she often played with her mother. The mother was always alert and watching for other bears, especially males who may harm her cub. Although the mom is looking directly at us here, she was comfortable with us because we kept our distance and kept quiet. She nursed the cub right after this image was taken.
