Brown Bear Silhouette: This young male Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) ran away when we tried to approach to photograph him digging for clams at low tide on The Cook Inlet at Lake Clark NP, Alaska. So we let him be and waited out the cloudy, windy weather. Luckily, when the heavy winds ripped away some of the low lying cloud cover, exposing the mountains of the Kenai Peninsula across the inlet, and allowing the sun to shine underneath the higher clouds, our young bear chose to return to the shore.
