White Sands National Monument

I keep being drawn back to the ripples of sand and the never-ending patterns of this unique ""gypsum" desert. On my most recent visit (December 2012), I wanted to capture the ripples, light, and shadows -- this time during late afternoon. One of the qualities of White Sands that I especially like is the "illusions" that form. Looking at photographs, it is often difficult to determine the original scale -- whether it was small or grand.
