On July 4th, this juvenile humpback whale celebrated Independence Day by showing off his rolling skills, we watched intently in amazement. Its throat grooves that allows huge volumes of water & food to filter through its baleen are clearly seen, expanding slightly from the action. The whole event and the splashes of water displaced by its flippers had to substitute for fireworks due to Alaska's l..o..n..g summer days with modest "darkness". This was a 4th of July that I won't forget!
