This is the location of the Nez Perce camp on Aug.9,1877 when the U.S. Army ambushed the Indians in an early morning attack as they slept.They were fleeing to Canada to avoid being put on a reservation against their will and thought they were safe for the time being. These tipi poles portray the sleeping village on the quiet waters of Big Hole River in S.W. Montana.
