Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Coyote Buttes North

Desert Solitude. My brother and I were among a lucky few to gain a permit to hike to "the Wave" in September. I've been to all 50 states, and many national parks, but Coyote Buttes North has stolen my heart and I've dreamed of it since that trip. I was fortunate to take this photo of my brother as he hiked across some of the gorgeous red, orange, tan, and white slickrock. But I am compelled by the image in black in white as it shows the stark beauty of this very special area.
