This is viewed from the western side of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. I began my hike at Tuolumne Meadows, hiked 8 miles to Vogelsang High Sierra Camp then proceeded to climb up Vogelsang Peak before the sunset on an August night. I had to walk down the peak in the dark, and it was worth it to get this picture! I have it hung poster sized on my wall and it even changes colors as the sun rises and sets!
