The old pumping station. Built in 1915-1916, it was once used to pump out Lake Mattamuskeet in order to farm and build the town of New Holland in the lake bed. It was used three times for this purpose. It was later used as a hunting lodge and refuge headquarters between 1935 and 1974. It was considered the best hunting lodge on the Atlantic Flyway and Lake Mattamuskeet was known as the "Canadian Goose Hunting Capitol of the World". Currently under construction with very little funds.
