Meadow restoration is a significant issue in the Lake Tahoe basin. These trout were enjoying late season flow through a high mountain stream that runs through High Meadow. Meadows in the Lake Tahoe basin have been damaged from sheep and cattle grazing over the past 150 years, and efforts to restore these meadows are currently underway. Naturally, high mountain meadows retain water higher in the mountains until late into the season, impacting fish and other wildlife within these ecosystems.
