Regular beachcombers know well the experience of reaching down to pick up what looks like a whole sand dollar, picking it up out of the sand and seeing that what had looked so promising turns out to be just another cruel trick Mother Nature has played on you. Well, not so this time. This picture shows the first intact sand dollar I ever found on Malaquite Beach. Now, the fact that I picked it up and broke off a small piece in my pocket walking back to the parking lot, well, that's another story.
