Over 60 million years of carving by the Bighorn River exposed these 1000-foot limestone cliff faces at Devil Canyon in the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, Montana. The exposed bedrock is part of the Madison Group, primarily of Mississippian age (approximately 350 million years old). This recreation area, shared by Montana and Wyoming, serves more than 200,000 visitors each year for tourism and educational purposes.
