It's tough to capture the sheer size of a 275-foot tall tree in a little photo. But this shot of my youngest son next to a giant sequoia may just give you the feeling of standing next to the largest living thing on earth. We may be small next to them, but they occupy a large place in our hearts. I'm thankful for the NPS, friend organizations, and visionary men like John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt who have the courage to protect these trees so we can see them today and forever.
