This pair of ki'i (carved wooden images) are just two of many ki'i located at this place of refuge just south of Kailua-Kona. Ki'i often house the bones of the chiefs that infused the area with their power or mana. Legend tells that if a criminal reached this sacred place, they would be saved from any punishment.
