While driving near the Gros Ventre River I spotted a bald eagle perched in a tree overlooking the water. The fall colors were spectacular, and I hoped to capture a shot that could display the beauty of both the bird and the surroundings. I approached carefully and quietly and the eagle allowed me to take photos for a few minutes before diving towards the water.
