This year, I decided to follow a dream and bucket list item; travel to every US National Park. In May, some friends and I took off for a challenge. We were to visit 5 parks in 5 days! Canyonlands National Park was one of them. As a photographer I learned that an activity is to photograph Mesa Arch at sunrise. Around 4AM, one of my friends and I drove to the park to get the best spot and beat the crowd. But as we waited, I took the time to play with astrophotography for the first time. I asked my buddy to assist by illuminating the arch by painting it with his flashlight. He missed his cue and this awesome photograph came to be.
This image is titled Fellow Traveler (Beacons). Just as we're lighting our way through the darkness, so are the many countless stars that light up the night sky. Crossing paths, leaving a mark, and capturing memories along the way; We are fellow travelers, our lights are our beacons.
