During this visit to Big Cypress in June I drove the Loop Road and used the car as a blind to try and find the residents of the area. As I suspect, the everglades ecosystem was drier than usual for the beginning of the wet season, so I was able to spot alligators, ibis, owls, hawks, and this anhinga. As anhingas do, this particular bird perched on a branch alternating between drying his wings and putting them away. If you look closely beyond the bird and buttonwood upon which he sits, the photo is mostly a reflection of the surroundings.
