At Haleakala National Park, my husband and I went to see the sunrise which is the first place in the United States that sees the sun. As the sun comes up, the Hawaiian national park rangers performed a chant. This is called E Ala Ē, or a Greeting of the Sun. As the sun rises each morning, the Hawaiian people call on the rising of the sun to awaken from the deep ocean, climbing to the highest heavens. Providing enlightenment and prosperity for all of Hawaiʻi and her people.
