After some particularly heavy rain in Cades Cove on this August day the sky remained heavily clouded creating a very atmospheric background. This made experiencing the various cabins, mills, and churches feel almost dreamlike. Also, due to the very high temperatures over the previous week there was a significant amount of fog coming off of the trees. In this photo my mom is walking up to the Tipton House which does a great job of transporting you back into the 1820s. If there were furniture inside, you would likely feel as though the residents were just away for a moment. Cades Cove in general provides this feeling throughout the valley.
