While walking on a trail near the Incline Plane historic site within the C&O Canal National Historic Park, I caught a glimpse of this old stone chimney (perhaps, the lone remnant of a home) between the trail and the bank of the Potomac River. I could find no information on the significance of the architectural artifact. This ruin with no name juxtaposed against the river was a reflection of how many structures and settlements along the Potomac have come and gone while the natural features of the River have persisted.
