Ruby-throated Hummingbirds return for the winter to sunny South Florida generally from late November through about the end of February. I visit them most weekends at Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge attempting to capture these incredibly small and fast being as they flap their wings some 50-80 times per second while feeding on firespike flowers.
