While visiting the Mountain Farm Museum at Great Smoky Mountains National Park just before closing a herd of elk walked between the cabins and along the paths just in front of us then started to graze on the grasses next to the various fences. They seemed completely indifferent to our presence and stayed there peacefully for about twenty minutes. Afterward the herd moved into the field beyond and continued grazing for nearly an hour.
