The sandhill crane migration is one of the best times to visit Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge. I think most people don't understand just how many cranes are in the refuge during the winter months. This picture was taken as the cranes came back into the refuge from their day out feeding in the fields of the surrounding areas. The photo is an attempt to convey the scale of just how many cranes rely on the safety of the refuge. I highly recommend taking your family to see these amazing birds during the winter months if you are anywhere close to Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge.
