This shot ended up with a breathtaking view view of Maroon Bells, but it didn't start out that way! My friend Lisa and I were going to ride our e-bikes up the mountain and see all of the splendor, but it was a rainy day instead. So we hopped on the bus and lo and behold, the skies cleared just enough to provide some puffy white clouds against the beautiful blue sky. I did have to wait till over 100 people took their turns photographing each other on the rock formation in the foreground. When it was finally my turn but I had to be swift because the next group was already heading that way!
