This is a picture was taken on the Pictured Rocks tour it’s a lone white pine growing atop Chapel Rock. Its roots extend out over what used to be a natural archway that connected the rock to the mainland. The arch collapsed in the 1940s, but the tree’s roots still reach back to the soil on the shore, allowing it to survive
