The core of the Milky Way rises behind the ruins of the highly photographed Cook Bank in the ghost town of Rhyolite, Nevada. The bank ruins were strongly illuminated by a security light behind me, next to the historic railroad depot.
I was treated to dark skies and great photo opportunities when I visited Rhyolite early fall, 2025.
