This was taken just after sundown from the Marble Viewpoint, which is just outside the northern border of the North Rim section of the Grand Canyon National Park. One can see the flats to the north, that the Colorado runs through, in the very narrow Marble Canyon, before the canyon opens up into what people think of as the Grand Canyon. The actual river is not visible from this viewpoint.
