This photo was taken in the wee hours of the morning from our balcony at the Far View Lodge withing Mesa Verde National Park. The skies had been cloudy much of the evening before, and into the night. But when I awoke in the middle of the night I couldn't resist a peek outside. To my delight, the clouds had parted (if only for a short window of time, as they soon rolled back in), and the night sky was spectacular with the Milky Way overhead!
