Fall at the Maroon Bells is my absolute favorite time of year. Many come here for sunrise - to see the alpenglow on the peaks turn into a hot pink as the sun continues to illuminate the Bells - but I actually prefer sunset. My family and I enjoy hiking in this area during the late afternoon, after the crowds have dispersed, and then finding a spot to take in the view together. Last year, we were treated to the most spectacular sunset sky perfectly reflected in the stream that pooled due to a beaver dam. It was too beautiful not to photograph.
