Snowy Sunrise from Alberta Peak.

I started out from Wolf Creek Pass before dawn. The snow was pretty deep, and there was a fresh layer at this point, so snowshoes were required. It was still snowing sporadically on my way up, but every now and then the full moon would shine through a break in the clouds, so I knew there was a chance that the sun wouldn't be completely obscured come sunrise.

As I approached the summit ridge, the snow picked up significantly and the wind on the ridge line was biting. By the time I was a the summit, my hair and beard were frozen white. The worst of the storm soon passed though, and the light grew stronger as sunrise approached. I had never seen clouds in so many layers before and the growing warmth of the sun seemed to make them slowly dance, disperse, and dissipate. I captured this shot about 10-15 minutes after the sunrise, when the sun finally broke through the clouds and illuminated the fresh snow in the valley below.
