The road into Rainier National Park had been closed all weekend from heavy snow, so when it finally opened on Monday, two ski partners and I headed in for first tracks in the Tatoosh Range. It turned into one of those classic mixed-weather days with clouds, fog, sun, snow, and wind all trading places. Every now and then Rainier would peek through the shifting weather. This was one of those moments, and I was lucky enough to catch it.
