Early into my first visit to the Quinault Rainforest, I came across this scene and immediately stopped. The ferns growing out of the tree, the oxalis climbing the trunk, and the layers of lush greenery all around felt like the perfect snapshot of a PNW rainforest. I tried several compositions to draw attention to the tree while still capturing the surrounding beauty. This is the one that stood out.
