When I got into backpacking and mountaineering earlier this year, I wanted to combine it with my other hobby of astrophotography. This summer, I got to accomplish my dream on a perfect new moon night in a spot with some of the darkest and clearest skies in Washington. This photo has the classic Camp Muir view with Adams, Hood, and Helens, and a sea of clouds in the foreground. You can see the light of Portland coming from behind Helens.
