During our hike to Kings Creek Falls on a gorgeous mid-September afternoon (2025), we couldn't take our eyes away from the breath-taking scenery but also surveyed the scarred and blackened landscape from the devastating Dixie Fire of 2021 that destroyed almost 70% of Lassen. But the lasting effects have a beauty all their own as well, and I couldn't resist taking this shot of the stark contrasts between the haunting tree skeleton and charred rock against the glorious blue sky and lush new growth.
