This photo shows the interface between a typical climax forest in the Chesapeake Bay area and a restored meadow at the Woodend Nature Preserve outside of Washington D.C. The flat low nature of the meadow allows one to appreciate the wildness and the surprising height of the trees in the adjacent woodland.
