The Lower House off of Farm Avenue is the oldest extant building at the historic site and dates from the late 1700's. It has had several additions and changes over the years and housed the plantation overseer and manager in the 1800's, In the 1900's it transitioned into a guest house and finally a residence for descendant John Ridgely,Jr. On this splendid early July day behind its white picket fence it was the epitome of a pastoral farm house.
