A kayaker walks his watercraft out to the deeper water in order to take an early morning paddle in Death Valley. This unusual photo was taken at Badwater Basin in February 2024 after the historic rainfall events of late 2023 and early 2024 that caused the once in a lifetime flooding of historic Lake Manley. Lake Manley sits in the lowest elevations of Death Valley; there is no outlet for the water there.
