I'd heard that the best place to photograph bobcats in the US was at Point Reyes National Seashore. This lesser-known national park is north of San Francisco, nearly 3 hours drive one way from my home in the South Bay. Hence my hesitation all these years for a day trip to the park searching for an elusive bobcat. I eventually paid a visit to the park this January and I am glad I did. After a few hours of driving around and hiking in the park, I eventually encountered this stunning bobcat during her late afternoon hunt.
