Guess what, we have wild monkeys in Florida. Yes they are invasive, but they have been here for over 100 years.
A boat captain wanted to make the park Silver Springs Park more interesting when he did the jungle cruise tours, so he went and purchased Rhesus monkeys not knowing they can swim, and he took them to an island, and set them all up, and then left. The next day he came back, well the monkeys had swam away from their island. Needless to say 100 plus years later the monkeys are spreading like crazy, and thriving in the alligator, and wildlife infested forest! They are now a big lure for folks to visit the park, and national forest! Very fun to photograph them, just like with all wildlife....keep your distance please!
