A lone abandoned house sits precariously awaiting its fate at the edge of an eroding cliff in the Puget Sound (Washington USA), a symbol of the inevitable effects of time and forces of nature catching up with man. Heavy storm waves have pummeled this seaside embankment where the structure is now on the brink of certain doom. This was shot from a boat moving 7 knots, rolling over waves, through a long 600mm telephoto lens. This cliff on Smith Island has eroded about 150 feet since the 1970's, famously taking a lighthouse into the sea in the 1980's. The original structure was built circa 1858. The tiny uninhabited island is remarkably still the site of a remote NOAA weather station and is part of the San Juan Island National Wildlife Refuge.
