The Never Summer Mountains, pictured here, lived up to their name during my June 2024 visit - this photo was taken not 15 minutes after a torrent of snow, sleet, and hail hit. My mom and I tepidly descended Trail Ridge Road in our Roadtrek camper, expecting more less than ideal winter weather. Instead, we were met with an idyllic valley, lush and cool from recent precipitation. With the low lying clouds and flourishing flora, the Kawuneeche Valley felt almost like a temperate rainforest, akin to Tongass in Alaska or Hoh in Washington.
