While visiting Kenai Fjords, we got to view the bears "fishing" at Brooks Falls, where they perch atop the falls and wait for salmon to make their way upstream. The bears have learned to snatch the salmon in midair as the fish try to reach their spawning ground. The bear in this photo sat perfectly still for quite a while, waiting patiently before being ultimately rewarded. He had great expectations of catching his dinner. The bear sat still enough to permit a super sharp result, even though the shutter speed was 1/10 sec (handheld), to show how fast the water was.
