Dry Tortugas is an interesting piece of US history. Built to protect shipping lanes, it was also used as a prison during and after the Civil War. Probably the most notable prisoner was Dr Mudd, the physician who gave aid to John Wilkes Booth after Booth shot President Lincoln. This shot was looking down one of the main hallways inside the fort.
