This may be a photo of a snowshoe hare eating lunch; however, it also stands out to me because it depicts the hare's seasonal change. If you look at its feet, you can see that they are still very white, characteristic of the animal's winter coat. The rest of the hare's coat has adjusted to the summer and become brown. I felt lucky to have captured this hare at the right time in late spring to depict this transformation. The evolutionary changes animals have endured for thousands of years, allowing them to survive in harsh environments, such as the Rocky Mountains, has always been an impressive feat to me. Wildlife is amazing, and their seasonal transformations never fail to impress me.
