Shortly after sunrise, we were packing up our campsite in the Grand Canyon. Suddenly, a young elk came around the corner. He checked us out, examining everything in the surrounding area, including the spot where our tent had been just five minutes before. I was able to capture his curious nature in this photo as he walked in and out of the trees, observing as much as he possibly could and showcasing the explorative personality that many elk display.
