Hearing about much activity in Merritt Island NWR about the eastern screech owl, I set off and took a chance of finding one of these illusive but stunning little owls. I studied the locations where they've been spotted, I couldn't seem to find any of these little predators. I was standing by my car where they have been seen and I here the common trill of the owl, I turn around and starring right at me was this beautiful red-morph eastern screech owl. I'm having a "big year" moment I thought to myself. Our National Park services never dissapoints, you always seem to find something that always brings you back.
