Lighthouses help guide mariners safely to shore. As a boater I have used lighthouses to help identify where I am at; avoid rocks and shoals; to make it home safely. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse had to be moved for preservation because of erosion. I had visited the lighthouse many years before it was moved. Coming back to capture the lighthouse with the Milkyway was surreal. The milky way was visible with the naked eye. This is one photo, not a composite.
