This photo was taken during a multiple day backpacking trip in the backcountry of Great Sand Dunes National Park in September 2023. After two sunny and pleasant days, the next day was freezing and rainy. The rain, however, created a beautiful shimmer on the dunes, and after the storm passed the wet dunes were quite solid and easy to hike through!
