This photo was taken in Big Cypress National Preserve in January 2023 during a kayak trip in the swamp. On first glance, I only spotted a few babies on top of their giant mother, but then more and more eyes kept coming into focus! There were at least seven baby alligators sitting on top of the mama gator and swimming close by her in the water, and likely a few more that I didn't see!
