Pied-billed grebes ply the wetlands at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge in southwest Washington. The rivers and creeks on the refuge are part of the lower Columbia river ecosystem and drain into the river a few miles away. This grebe has captured a small fish, likely a juvenile COHO salmon.
