This image was taken from the ramp to the watchtower at Kuwohi in the GSMNP in late July, 2023. The 6,643 elevation makes this a great location to view and photograph the Milky Way. Clear nights are uncommon when the Milky Way is visible, but the fact that the the mountain is open from April to December for 24 hours makes this a must visit spot.
